Carrefour launches second 'eco' store

Carrefour’s Dia in Spain has launched a new sustainable store model, the second ‘eco’ store following a first launch in late 2008.

The measures tested in the new store will produce reductions of up to 25% or 20 tons of CO2 emissions per store, and are being implemented progressively in all outlets.

The main features of the new store concept are more efficient frozen cabinets, an optimised lighting system and the use of a better and less polluting gas for its air conditioning/heating system - which will mean a further reduction of 15 tons of CO2 per store per year.
