Geoff Lockwood appointed FETA president

Geoff Lockwood, Technical Director at ebm-papst, has been appointed President of the Federation of Environmental Trade Associations (FETA)

FETA represents the interests of manufacturers, suppliers, installers and contractors within the heat pump, controls, ventilating, refrigeration and air conditioning industry.

Lockwood is also President of the Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning Manufacturers Association (HEVAC), the organisation founded in 1944 by a group of fan manufacturers, which grew to incorporate other interest groups, resulting in the formation of HEVAC in 1968.  He will continue with his responsibilities for HEVAC in his new role at FETA.

Lockwood’s career spans over 21 years at ebm-papst, Europe’s largest motor and fan manufacturer, which develops, designs and manufactures motor, fan and control solutions for the ICT, industrial engineering, refrigeration, heating and ventilation industries. He is a well-recognised figure within the industry, respected for his technical expertise, and has been instrumental in pioneering EC technology to improve energy efficiency and reduce carbon emissions from building service and refrigeration equipment.

Cedric Sloan, Direct General of FETA, said: “Geoff has been effective in every role he has accepted within the federation and without doubt he will prove to be an excellent representative in this,  the most senior position open to our trade association members.”

Lockwood became active in the Fan Manufacturers Association (FMA), the specialist fan group within HEVAC, in 2000 and became the chairman in 2005, and has been a supportive and active member of industry groups and associations throughout his career.  He said: “I am passionate about engineering and privileged to be working in such an innovative industry and to now be representing the interests of these valuable trade groups as their President.”
