Research into the potential use of solar energy and waste heat sources to generate cooling functions and ensuring improved efficiencies for lower GWP refrigerant were among several projects honoured at the IOR’s 119th annual dinner in London yesterday (February 21).
Enforcement is just one of the pressing challenges facing efforts by the EU cooling industry in trying to phase-out use of higher GWP refrigerant. The claims have been made amidst fears that the unknown scope of illegal trade for such gasses could derail any progress made by industry under the F-Gas regulation.
Kevin Glass has formally taken up the presidency of the Institute of Refrigeration (IOR) and set out his aims for a cooling industry that faces complex technical, policy and skills challenges resulting in part from the UK’s low carbon ambitions and a lack of certainty over the Brexit process.
