Ford’s fastest-ever mainstream car has more potential than a 10-year old Usain Bolt
Imagine having your trousers embedded to the driver’s seat as the front wheels wrestle with 300hp, as you hang onto the steering wheel for dear life…in a car with ‘Ford Focus’ stamped on the boot.
It really is that simple. Channelling that amount of power, complete with 325 lb ft of torque from a five-cylinder 2.5-litre engine (from a Volvo, surprisingly) is always going to be an issue.
However’ this particular hatchback has RevoKnuckle…erm, to explain. As the front wheels steer as well as lay down the power, too much will contrive to pull the wheels away from the straight line as they attempt to master two jobs at once - known as torque steer in the trade.
Revo technology sorts this issue through some suspension magic and an advanced limited skip-differential, which transfers power between the wheels for increased traction. And it works…(see Cool Van Man Test drive video below)
Add to this a top speed of 163mph and 0-60mph in 5.9 seconds and you have the fastest mainstream Ford ever.
And one more thing, it costs just £25K…cars at this price just don’t come along everyday
