A-Gas has increased its R744 (CO2) offering to meet the growing demands from UK retailers for lower GWP refrigerants.
Ken Logan, managing director of A-Gas (UK) Limited, said: “The most commonly used refrigerants in retailing are F-gases, some of which have a GWP in excess of 2,000. R744 has a GWP of 1. As a ‘natural’ refrigerant it addresses end users environmental issues, which combined with its ‘green’ image, makes it a very attractive solution for new stores.”
A-Gas says it has already tripled the size of its R744 cylinder fleet, as well as investing in specialist cylinder valves with residual pressure devices to prevent contamination of the cylinder. A-Gas says it only sells refrigerant grade R744, with a moisture level below 10ppm as water and R744 systems do not mix.
By investing in refrigerant material and developing its distributor network with FSW and Climate Center, the company claims it can ensure readily available stored supplies of R744 across the UK, with some locations providing 24/7 availability for emergencies.
A-Gas has also forged close links with industry training specialist Cool Concerns which offers high quality refrigeration and air conditioning training and advice, as part of a commitment to help ensure that users and handlers of its R744 products are well trained and proficient in handling the refrigerant.
