Air handling specialist, Airsource has launched of its Tempair heat pump system, complete with installed full supply and exhaust air.
This is claimed to eliminate loss of capacity at low ambient temperatures, extracting air from the room to generate heat.
It also combines heat pump and heat recovery technology – exhaust air provides 70 per cent of heat recovery plus acts as a renewable energy source for the high-efficiency heat pump - and benefits from lower noise levels and eliminating the need for external condensing units.
David Clayton, Airsource director, says: “Most heat pumps lose capacity as the ambient temperature falls. By placing the heat pump in the exhaust air path, theTempair eliminates this loss, extracting air from the room to create heat energy.”
“There is a lot of activity in the heat pump sector at the moment, but we felt the technology could be moved on another step to realise its full potential.”
Available with hydrocarbon refrigerant, Tempair can be used alongside VRV or chilled water systems to reduce the amount of f-gases required in the system as a whole.
The company also provides Classair units, which are designed specifically for classrooms. Classair provides variable control of air-volume and temperature, while keeping CO2 below the stipulated 1,500 parts per million in occupied areas. Heat recovered from the exhaust air is transferred to the fresh air to reduce the Low Pressure Hot Water (LPHW) heating load.
The system reacts quickly to changes in usage patterns. On start up, when a room is unoccupied, it is in energy saving temperature set-back mode with full circulation of air flow. When occupied, the system provides uniform distribution of temperature and fresh air. In low occupancy, when the concentration is below 900 parts per million, the fan speed will reduce to save energy.
