All change at Climate Center as Andy Wighton becomes MD to replace Lee Jon Newman

Wolseley group commercial director to take over next week as managing director of Climate Center and Pipe Center, as predecessor departs after 18 months for ‘opportunity he couldn’t refuse’

Andy Wighton has been appointed Managing Director of Pipe Center and Climate Center, it has been announced, following the surprise departure of Lee Jon Newman for a Chief Operating Officer role, described as ‘an opportunity he couldn’t refuse.’

Mr Wighton is currently Group Commercial Director at parent company Wolseley. Prior to that, Andy was Chief Operating Officer at Wolseley Canada, a $1.4bn turnover company. The company says that Mr Wighton’s experience makes the appointment a ‘fantastic fit’

He joins the business on 19 January 2015, enabling a handover period with Lee Jon Newman, who is leaving Wolseley UK at the end of February to take up a Chief Operating Officer role in a different sector. Mr Newman was appointed to the role in September 2013 and is credited with re-focusing the businesses, putting a new team in place and improving the performance.

Mr Wighton first joined Wolseley in 2003 and during his time with Wolseley UK was a member of the Plumbing and Heating businesses leadership team in his role as Finance Director.

He said: “I’m delighted to be returning to Wolseley UK and am looking forward to progressing Pipe and Climate’s strategy. Our aim is to be the best business in the market and the distributor of choice by FY18 – and I will ensure Pipe and Climate Center continues on its growth trajectory.”
