AREA publishes refrigerant training requirements guide

Contractors’ association AREA has published a document covering minimal requirements for training and certification for low GWP refrigerants.

AREA aims to have the requirements form the basis for a harmonised scheme in the EU.

The announcement follows the publication of guidance notes on the use of low GWP refrigerants in RACHP systems last year, covering basic competence requirements for contractors handling the gasses.

Marco Buoni, AREA vice president, said: “This document is a natural development of the work we have done on low GWP refrigerants in the past two years, notably as regards competence for contractors.”

“Common requirements would ensure uniformity of expertise throughout the European Union.”
