Bitzer UK launches training initiative

Bitzer UK launches training initiative to update the technical knowledge and practical skills of designers, installers and service engineers in compressor application and maintenance.

A new programme of one-day courses being rolled-out this Autumn will cover the latest developments in compressor and condensing unit technology.

Modules will provide a combination of theoretical and hands-on training, and be held at a training facility at the company’s Milton Keynes headquarters.

Heading up the programme is Marcus Levy, recently appointed Technical and Training Manager.

Marcus Levy said: “In the age of F-Gas and related responsibilities, we are all conscious of the importance of ensuring the highest standards of design, application, commissioning and maintenance for refrigeration and air conditioning systems.

“The courses provide an opportunity for designers, engineers and more hands-on end users to get up to speed with the latest compressor and condensing unit technology, and how to apply it efficiently and safely, with respect for the environment and in full compliance with the F-Gas requirements.”

Courses will cover a general introduction to compressor technology, plus detailed modules on screw compressors, reciprocating compressors, and condensing units. A key theme will be a focus on UK requirements and applications.

Kevin Glass, managing director of Bitzer UK, says: “The aim is to provide a valuable blend of solid technical training in the principles behind the technology, plus practical help that addresses the real-world application issues that designers and engineers face.”

He added: “The UK has a reputation as a fairly advanced market, due to the sometimes unique requirements and technical approach required. At Bitzer UK we have a detailed understanding of these issues and how to deliver high efficiency, high performance solutions, and we will be sharing this knowledge and supporting delegates to help them to deliver for their own clients.”

The Bitzer UK training facility has capacity for up to 16 delegates at a time. Following a course, delegates receive a certificate showing successful completion of training.

Courses cover topics such as understanding and managing refrigerant Glide, the regulatory framework and implications of the coming phase-down of high global warming F-Gas refrigerants, and using online resources to support commissioning and ongoing servicing.

The Bitzer UK initiative is part of a wider training drive taking place within the Bitzer Group. The company is due to complete its new international training centre, the Schaufler Academy, at Rottenburg-Ergenzingen in Germany in October.

The 1500sq m development will provide a world-class training facility to advance the understanding of compressor and related technology and its application. Courses dedicated to CO2 application are also available at this facility, delivered in English and offering hands-on practice.
