Carbon Trust energy efficiency efforts

The Carbon Trust has announced the results of a recent survey and the launch of its Green Business Directory.

The survey polled businesses about the energy efficiency measures they had conducted in the past year.

Energy efficient lighting was the most popular measure, adopted by 77 per cent, while 59 per cent had invested in employee awareness training, while 57 per cent had engaged in energy metering, monitoring and targeting technology.

Nearly all respondents (96 per cent) said that energy efficiency was an important factor when purchasing or upgrading equipment.

However, only 51 per cent were confident about manufacturers’ energy efficiency claims and 58 per cent said they would have benefited from a trusted source of accredited suppliers.

The Carbon Trust has accordingly launched its Green Business Directory, featuring accredited energy efficiency and low carbon equipment suppliers which have been independently assessed by the Carbon Trust Accredited Supplier scheme.

Key technologies within the directory includes HVAC, controls, AM&T, solar PV, biomass and lighting.

The technology can be accessed via the Carbon Trust website www.carbontrust.com
