The Carbon Trust is investigating whether different types of waste heat recovery equipment for refrigeration systems should join other heat recovery technologies on the Energy Technology List (ETL), and therefore be entitled for government tax relief.
A comprehensive range of waste heat recovery options will be reviewed through consultation with relevant refrigeration equipment manufacturers, trade bodies, consultants and end users.
The Carbon Trust said: “We are particularly interested in understanding the market characteristics and trends, as well as the performance characteristics of different WHR equipment, along with recent and future energy saving innovations.”
The ECA scheme provides businesses with enhanced tax relief for equipment purchases that meet published energy-saving criteria. The ETL lists products that have been demonstrated to meet the published criteria, and are therefore eligible for 100 per cent tax relief in the year of purchase.
