Cheshire refrigeration company picks up business award

Staycold Export Ltd, which provides commercial beverage refrigeration, has been recognised by ScottishPower at the Cheshire Business Awards 2015

The Cheshire based company was recognised for its impressive success in the global market and its continued commitment to driving energy efficiency.

Staycold Export Ltd was awarded the title of ‘Small Business of the Year’ at Trinity Mirror’s annual Cheshire Business Awards ceremony, held on Friday, 2 October 2015 at Chester Cathedral.

Sponsored by ScottishPower, the ‘Small Business of the Year’ Award aims to recognise companies, employing between 1 and 10 people, demonstrating achievement in the business market - combining good businesses strategy, financial performance and potential for future growth.

When the company launched in 1998, with a staff of just three, it set the tone for its future global success – its first win was for 1000 coolers for Guinness Africa with a six figure sum contract value.

Exporting has since continued to be a key feature of the business with roughly a quarter of its annual sales going overseas.

In the past 12 months Staycold has gone on to beat tough worldwide competition, securing a range of high profile projects with brands including Heineken UK and the AG Barr for Glasgow Commonwealth Games.

While future expansion is in the pipeline with the planned purchase of a warehouse, which will bring further jobs and growth to the area.

The company is also leading the carbon reduction charge in its field – it is currently number one for energy efficiency in the UK*, performing 41% better than its nearest competitor.

This is a reflection of the hard work it puts in to ensure its products are as energy efficient as possible, saving its customer’s money and helping to protect the environment.

Michelle Nicol – Senior Manager - SME Marketing at ScottishPower, said: “Once again, the calibre of this year’s entries for this year’s Small Business of the Year Award was overwhelming.

It is wonderful to see so many small and medium sized businesses thriving in the Cheshire area and we couldn’t be prouder to sponsor an award that recognises the hard work and dedication of businesses like Staycold.

“The company’s commitment to energy efficiency has also been hugely encouraging.

We understand the challenges that business face to keep energy costs down and work hard to provide support and advice to help them be more resource efficient. It’s therefore great to see companies like Staycold making this a priority”.

Staycold’s, Managing Director, Edward Jonas said: “I am incredibly proud of the team who have worked so hard to achieve this recognition. It’s really special for us to receive this prestigious award from ScottishPower.”
