Cold chain gets efficiency boost with introduction of UVC technology to refrigerated vehicles

Irish technology specialist IngeniaTouch releases SmartCoolTruck, incorporating range of innovations including UVC lighting and heat-deflecting roof coating

Irish technolgoy specialist IngeniaTouch has unveiled the SmartCoolTruck, which combines three novel technologies. The firm said ti believes it has the potential to transform the global mobile refrigeration sector.
The SmartCoolTruck concept offers three distinct technologies from IngneiaTouch which combine for refrigeration efficiency and reduced fuel and emissions.

The first is a smart UVC lamp, fitted inside the refrigerator, which reduces microbial activity and thus extends produce shelf-life;
the second sees a special coating applied to the roof of the refrigerated container to deflect heat away from the vehicle; while the third is a bespoke high performance fuel agent, which is mixed with the vehicle fuel to reduce fuel burn and emissions.

The firm says the three-element process can be retrofitted to any refrigerated vehicle, resulting in a reduced need for cooling and improved fuel efficiency.
