Embraco develops lubricant free compressor

Embraco has developed a new compressor which combines linear technology with variable capacity, eliminating the need for lubricating oil for its operation.

The technology, developed jointly with New Zealand company Fisher & Paykel and the Whirlpool Corporation, is claimed to offer superior efficiency levels compared with current compressors, as well as being compact in design, allowing installation in any orientation.

Robert H Campos, vice president of marketing and business, said: “Our customers can create new uses for their products with more cabinet space options. The absence of the lubricant also brings significant gains for refrigeration manufacturing process and to the environment since it prevents soil and water contamination if the product is improperly discarded.”
