Embraco has announced the construction of a new factory in Nuevo Leon, Mexico, where it will produce a high efficiency compressor – the Embraco Mini (EM).
The plant will begin operating in August 2011, with a production capacity of 2.5m units a year.
A total investment of $90m is tabled, and by 2013 the company plans to reach full capacity, producing 5m units.
The facilities will cover 33,000 sq and include a manufacturing and technology centre equipped with five laboratories.
The EM compressor is seen as an important development for Embraco, as demand switches to higher efficiency/lower consumption technology.
It is claimed the EM will meet the technical requirements of the America’s 2012 Energy Star Program, which aims to reduce building and household product energy consumption.
