ENER-G Sustainable Technologies has helped to install a Vaillant geoTHERM ground source heat pump system at Vaillant Group’s new Northern Region headquarters in Belper
The installation will supplying the majority of the building’s heat needs and contributing to its outstanding sustainability performance.
The 30kW Vaillant ground source heat pump system draws energy from the ground using eleven 70 metre boreholes, drilled by ENER-G.
By harnessing the relatively stable temperatures found under the earth’s surface, the ground source heat pump is able to deliver heating and cooling at very high efficiencies.
The £3.5 million redevelopment of Vaillant Group UK and Northern Europe Region Headquarters, located alongside the company’s award winning manufacturing plant, opened in December 2011.
As a renowned champion of energy efficient heating products, Vaillant Group created a cost neutral and low carbon building, incorporating Vaillant Group’s portfolio of renewable energy products, including a ground source heat pump, air-to-water heat pumps, air-to-air heat pumps, mechanical ventilation and heat recovery, solar thermal and photovoltaic systems.
The building is believed to be unique in Europe in incorporating so many different sources of renewable energy to actually power the heating and hot water in the building.
A particularly innovative feature of the building is that heat from the ground source heat pump and other sources from the building is distributed throughout the building through the mechanical ventilation and heat recovery.
