EPEE event discusses Ecodesign and F-Gas in China

The European Partnership for Energy and the Environment (EPEE) co-hosts event with the China Refrigeration and Air-Conditioning Industry Association (CRAA) during China Refrigeration in Shanghai.

The event was entitled “European Legislation and their impact on manufacturers in China: Trends and Challenges for our industry.”

EPEE Director General Andrea Voigt and Fanny Van Der Loo, member of the EPEE Secretariat, both spoke at the event on the subject of the EU’s new F-gas rules and their impact on the use of refrigerants in Europe and beyond. Ms Voigt also touched on the importance of the EU’s Ecodesign rules and how they are impacting the HVAC‐R industry.

Other speakers at the side event included Heinz Jürgensen, Bitzer, who spoke about the impact on manufacturing of the EU’s Ecodesign, F-gas, and standardisation rules, and Gambi Chiang, BSRIA, who covered the market trends and challenges facing the HVAC-R industry in Europe. The side event concluded with a lively question and answer session moderated by the CRAA and EPEE.

“This event was an excellent opportunity to discuss the new European Union rules governing F-gas and Ecodesign, and the wider issue of the importance of cooperation between the European and Chinese jurisdictions,” said Andrea Voigt.

“In recent years Europe has seen a number of regulatory and market changes regarding our sector – changes which EPEE believes offer many opportunities for companies in both Europe and China.

“This is why we place great importance on cooperating internationally with other regional associations, such as CRAA, to ensure they are fully aware both of the new EU rules governing F-gas and Ecodesign, as well as market trends.”

EPEE appreciates the good collaboration with CRAA around this event and very much looks forward to discussing with other global regions how we can assist each other in our respective markets.
