EU presidency says F-Gas deal will enable routemap for global HFC phase-down

Lithuanian presidency expresses satisfaction at achieving a deal before end of year

Lithuanian Minister of Environment Valentinas Mazuronis has expressed satisfaction that the F-Gas deal has been achieved within its presidency of the EU.

“The Lithuanian Presidency aimed at reaching the agreement on this important environmental dossier before the end of this year, to enable an early implementation of the Regulation, including its phase-down schedule.”

The Minister said that the F-Gas deal now sets a routemap for the global phase-down of HFCs: “The EU work on the reduction of F-gas emissions is also an important signal in the context of the upcoming international negotiations under the Montreal Protocol and the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change.”
