FireChill to launch solar powered chiller range

UK based FireChill has formed a partnership with renewable energy solutions company ecOenergy Dominicana to launch a range of solar supplement chiller products.

Called SkyChill, the range uses micro solar collector technology and a patented sun tracker that ensures the collector trough lies in the optimum position for up to ten hours per day.

It can also rotate 180 degrees to a stow away position at night and during periods of inclement weather.

Set to launch in the first quarter of 2011 SkyChill is claimed to switch seamlessly from solar to gas when the sun goes in to ensure uninterrupted cooling.

EcOenergy will support the project with its solar collector system design, installation and commissioning experience.

Simon Clothier, FireChill CEO, says: “We offer a truly genuine alternative because we can deliver a dual-mode chiller system which enables round the clock chilling.

“We still have development and testing to carry out but we are confident we will have a product at the start of 2011.”
