The Minister of State for Business and Enterprise, Michael Fallon MP, visits Fläkt Woods’ manufacturing facility in Colchester on 4 October, as part of a fact finding mission in the area.
The event was hosted in conjunction with the Essex Chambers of Commerce and was also attended by local MP Sir Bob Russell.
Fläkt Woods’ Managing Director, Allan Hurdle, provided the Minister and Sir Bob with an overview of the products manufactured in Colchester, along with an explanation of the company’s success in UK and worldwide projects.
Other topics discussed during the visit included energy security and the regulatory burdens placed on UK businesses, as well as development of renewable energy and funding for skills development in the county.
Commenting on the visit, Allan Hurdle said: “The business issues that we discussed have been at the heart of Fläkt Woods’ development plan over the last few years. We’ve been championing the effective integration of renewable energy, supplying cost effective solutions to the majority of our projects.
“Of course, this success has only been possible thanks to the experienced and talented workforce we have here at the company. By investing in our employees’ skill sets and career progression, we have been able to diversify into new markets quickly and successfully.”
