Foster Refrigerator wins green award

Foster Refrigerator, a King’s Lynn manufacturer of commercial refrigeration, has been named best manufacturing business at a ‘green’ awards

The Norfolk-based company won the Environmental Efficiency Award at the national final of the EEF Future Manufacturing Awards, and was also named the ‘winner of winners’ – an accolade that puts it at the top of manufacturing performance in the country.

The annual awards are hosted by EEF, the manufacturers’ organisation, and recognise excellence in enterprise, innovation, environmental performance and skills development among UK manufacturers.

Foster Refrigerator claims it reports regularly on its progress and spreads the ‘green’ message throughout its supply chain, within its workforce and to local community bodies such as schools. Its success means that it holds the Carbon Trust Standard – an accolade held by around 300 UK companies.

John Savage, Food Service Director at Foster Refrigerator said: “We are delighted that all our hard work is paying off, both for the company, our local community and the environment we share. Foster has environmental values that run through the whole business operation, and it has built up an enviable reputation as the ‘green leader’ in the commercial refrigeration market.’’

The judges described Foster Refrigerator as an inspiration for the future of UK manufacturing, harnessing strong business growth with the skills of its workforce.

Foster Refrigerator reached the national final, held at a ceremony at Merchant Taylor’s Great Hall in the City of London, by winning its category in the EEF South East competition.
