Industry gets behind Chris Bailie as he flies the flag for UK refrigeration in Brazil

Hopes pinned on the engineer from Northern Ireland as WorldSkills continues in Sao Paulo

The industry is hoping that Chris Bailie, installer for BL Refrigeration and Air Conditioning, isn’t feeling the heat as he competes for the UK in the WorldSkills competition in Sao Paulo Brazil today.

Over the course of the next three days, WorldSkills will see 1190 young people aged between 18 and 25 from 59 countries to compete for medals in 50 different professional trades.

According to WorldSkills, the the Competitor in the Refrigeration and Air Conditioning competition will be judged on:

  • Refrigeration pipe-work
  • Electrical wiring
  • Component and system installation
  • Commissioning and adjustment
  • Fault finding
  • Repair and part replacement
  • Refrigerant recovery and control
  • Work practices and safety
