International Institute of Refrigeration: The XV Conference 7th- 8th June

The International Institute of Refrigeration, in conjunction with the United Nations Environment Programme, is to host the XV European Conference in Italy, 7 - 8th June

Entitled ‘The Latest Technologies in Air-Conditioning and Refrigeration Industry’, the event will discuss the F-Gas legislation and natural and low GWP refrigerants among other key issues.

In a statement the organisers said: “The new revision of the F-Gas regulations will bring important challenges to our sector; more than we have ever faced before.

The initial transition started occurring during the 90s, moving from CFC-HCFC to HFC gasses; however that was a little change, as those fluorinated refrigerants were nearly drop in or low modification products for manufacturers, contractors and customers.

Tougher changes are now to come for our industry. These changes, as the EU commission has proposed in the latest Review of the F-Gas regulations, are likely to include a substantial redesigning of systems in order to move to LOW GWP and natural refrigerants.”
