Johnson Controls unveils ammonia high temperature heat pump claiming half footprint of its class

Sabroe HeatPAC HPX achieves 90 deg C hot water using space-saving evaporator technology from its chiller range

Johnson Controls has launched the Sabroe HeatPAC HPX heat pump, featuring an integrated single-stage configuration claiming ’less than half the space and weight requirements of any other pump designs usually necessary to achieve 90 deg C hot water outputs’.

The firm said its new Sabroe range, offering heat capacity from 326-652 kW and cooling capacity from 249-498 kW has achieved its space-saving by using evaporator technology and design from its ChillPAC packaged ammonia chiller, with the single-stage high-lift units offering combined heating and cooling function.

The HPX hybrid compressor design allows differential pressures as high as 40 bar and discharge pressures as high as 60 bar

The HPX range offers skip-free operation over the entire capacity range and variable-speed drive (VSD) as standard, to offer ’exceptional performance with maximum energy-efficiency, even under part-load conditions, changing circumstances and different operating requirements.’

Coefficient of performance is 4.0 across the range.

The specifications of the package, Johnson Controls claims, offers end users a low cost installation for sterilisation, pasteurisation or other hygiene applications.
