Bakery in Malta installs solar refrigeration technology - claimed to reduce electrical consumption by 70%.
The launch of the solar system, supplied by refrigeration experts, Angelo Aquilina Refrigeration Supplies Ltd, was at the Golden Harvest Bakery, where this technology has already been installed.
Speaking at the launch of the Industrial Solar Cool System, Justin Aquilina, general manager of Angelo Aquilina Refrigeration Supplies Ltd said: “The energy absorbed by the solar panels installed with this technology helps to boost the stages of the central mechanism, thereby reducing the number of operating compressors, at any one time.
“Given that Malta is blessed with 3000 hours of unbroken sunshine a year, makes this technology extremely cost-effective. In markets where this technology has been tried and tested, it is proving to be pivotal in industry due to the huge energy saving costs.
“Furthermore the installation of this technology can also help Malta to reach its renewable energy targets.”
Each unit can be equipped with hermetic or semi-hermetic compressors. These refrigeration systems can be linked together via networking and the internet for detailed monitoring and control from anywhere. The company also installs refrigeration systems on truck cargo boxes , Supermarket display counters and Industrial and commercial cold rooms.
