Details of the 11 store closures planned by grocer Morrisons as part of its turnaround have been passed to Retail Week.
The affected branches are:
- Burnham on Sea, Somerset
- Castletown, Sunderland
- Clevedon, Somerset
- Little Hulton, Greater Manchester
- Northallerton, North Yorkshire
- Oldbury, West Midlands
- Salford, Greater Manchester
- Shildon, County Durham
- Streatham, London
- Tyldesley, Wigan
- West Bromwich (Hawthorns), West Midlands
Proposals to shut the stores, putting up to 900 jobs at risk, were revealed by Morrisons chief executive David Potts when the retailer issued results on Thursday. A consultation is under way.
Potts was parachuted in to the Morrisons role earlier this year to revitalise the grocer, which has been hit hard by the rise of discounters Aldi and Lidl and the resulting supermarket price war.
