New high capacity condensing units offer simpler alternative to refrigeration packs, says Daikin

Daikin says its Multi-Zeas units ‘deliver the higher capacities required for larger supermarkets, food storage and processing plants’, while reducing energyconsumption by 35%, compared with traditional refrigeration systems

Daikin Europe has launched a new high capacity range of Multi-ZEAS units, which the manufacturer claims offers a superior solution to the traditional rack systems typically used for larger capacities, because the units can be connected easily – in master and slave combination – so piping is reduced and installation time is much quicker.

The new high capacity Multi-ZEAS consists of two 15 HP units or two 20 HP units. It says it offers the ideal solution for multiple refrigeration needs in supermarkets and for applications with fluctuating loads and high energy efficiency requirements, such as blast coolers and freezers, cold storage, food outlets and restaurants.

The ZEAS range is based on the company’s VRV technology, which is well-known for its energy efficiency, reliability and controllability, resulting in lower CO2 emissions and reduced operating costs.

Daikin says the condensing units are far quieter than traditional units, because inverter control keeps fan speeds low while still meeting cooling demand. Sound levels can be adjusted to match environmental requirements or the time of day. At night, maximum fan speeds can be lowered to reduce noise, with only a limited loss of refrigeration capacity. The fans have blades and grills designed specially to reduce turbulence and lower noise further, so no additional noise reduction measures are required, making the Multi-ZEAS ideal for use in built-up areas.

The ‘plug and play’ units come fully equipped and do not need to be installed in a plant room, so retail space is maximised. All ZEAS units have optimised controls, which can communicate with a third party monitoring system or building management system via Daikin Europe’s Modbus interface. This means units can be controlled remotely - switched on or off, set to low noise operation, or the target temperature adjusted. Servicing and maintenance is also simple, supported by Daikin Europe’s unique three-year warranty.
