AC industry facing up to uncertainty of F-Gas cuts on refrigerant supply

February’s RAC Magazine finds AC contractors starting to feel the consequences of significant cuts in refrigerant quota that came into effect earlier this year under EU F-Gas regulation.

Concern has been raised about R410A, which is in much shorter supply in 2018 than originally expected.

There is also consideration of early critical findings from the Independent Review of Building Regulations and Fire Safety that has warned of a regulatory system ‘not fit for purpose’.

RAC Magazine was also in attendance for the IOR Annual Conference that was held in last month in London. During the event, the government discussed the role of emerging cooling technologies to potentially realise its long-term energy efficiency plans at a time of uncertainty over the specific approaches needed.

Coverage of the event can be read on page 10.
