RAC/Fleetmatics Fleet Efficiency Awards - enter now!

RAC Engineer, in conjunction with vehicle tracking company Fleetmatics, is launching the first fleet efficiency awards to highlight the good work being done by companies and their fleet managers in the RAC industry.

With the continuing drive for companies to proactively pursue a green policy, whether it’s internally or via interactions with customers, the need to project an image of energy efficiency has never been more important.

And that philosophy includes how a company’s fleet operates, together with the steps being taken to improve efficiency and reduce carbon emissions for the bottom line, the environment and the industry’s overall image.

So in an industry first, RAC Engineer magazine, in partnership with leading van GPS tracking technology company Fleetmatics, has launched the Van Fleet Efficiency Awards, designed to celebrate the efforts being made by van fleets across the industry.

The awards are also endorsed by the Freight Transport Association’s (FTA) Van Excellence scheme, which has been developed with van operators to provide a best-practice operational framework.

Educational opportunity

The Van Excellence scheme provides a platform to learn from the best operators and to demonstrate that a company runs its vans to the highest standards. FTA head of vans Mark Cartwright says: “Van Excellence is delighted to join RAC Engineer and Fleetmatics to highlight the good work being done by many fleet managers within the RAC industry.

“The skills required to meet demanding customer service levels, while controlling costs, are often underestimated and go unseen.

“Throw in the need to meet compliance requirements and environmental responsibilities
and you have a significant challenge for even the most experienced fleet manager. That is why we applaud RAC Engineer and Fleetmatics in recognising the very best across
the sector.”

Best practice focus

Open to all managers of RAC van fleets across the UK, the awards will recognise best practice by companies reducing/managing their fuel emissions.

They will consider measures such as business mileage, the use of fuel monitoring systems, vehicle selection lists and environmental initiatives such as carbon offsetting and tyre management programmes.

The winner will be chosen by the editor of RAC magazine and Mr Cartwright based on the best practice measures implemented across their fleet; there will also be two highly commended companies.

Entering the RAC/Fleetmatics Van Fleet Efficiency Awards couldn’t be easier: simply provide a 600-word entry statement based on the key points below, highlighting the proactive steps your company has taken to improve your fleet’s efficiency.

Email your entry to fleetawards@emap.com along with any relevant images. Deadline for entry is Friday 27h September, the winners will be announced in October at a presentation awards in London.
