Refrigeration company wins apprentice awards

Specialist installer IMA Cooling Systems has won two prestigious CIBSE Young Engineers Network Champions Awards for 2010

The business, which operates predominately in the fresh produce industry, took the Small Company trophy, thanks to its sophisticated and tailored training programme and its all round submission, which was seen to be particularly impressive for a company of its size.

Furthermore, IMA also secured the ‘Champion of Champions’ overall category.

Richard Corby, IMA Cooling Systems service manager, said: “We are proud of what we achieved in the last 10 years at IMA and recognise the continued need for young engineers to come through the company and be supported.”

Mr Corby adds: “In terms to training courses the cooling industry is often overlooked at colleges; there are only a limited number available compared with more mainstream trades such as of plumbing. To ensure IMA remained suitably suitable staffed with experienced engineers we had to be proactive in our approach.”

Now in its second year, the Young Engineers Awards recognise innovation in developing engineers of the future and reward organisations
