Hampshire-based ICS Cool Energy has been awarded accreditation from Safecontractor for its commitment to achieving excellence in health and safety.
Safecontractor is a third party accreditation scheme which recognises high standards in health and safety management amongst UK contractors.
ICS says its application for Safecontractor accreditation was driven by the need for a uniform standard across the business and as a part of continuous company development.
Morgan Scrase TechIOSH, Health, Safety and Environmental Manager says: “We are proud to have exceeded the criteria for Safecontractor and have a number of other accreditations including ISO 14001:2004, ISO 9001:2008, OHSAS 18001 2007, Contructionline, Legionella Control Association, British Safety Council, CHAS, BSI, FGas, Eurovent for Liquid Chilling Packages and Hydronic Heat Pumps.”
Safecontractor is applicable to most sectors although it is particularly relevant to food manufacture, property, facilities management, retail and leisure sectors, all of which are big users of contracted services.
John Kinge, technical director of Safecontractor said, “Major organisations simply cannot afford to run the risk of employing contractors who are not able to prove that they have sound health and safety policies in place.”
“More companies need to understand the importance of adopting good risk management in the way that ICS Cool Energy has done. The firm’s high standard has set an example which hopefully will be followed by other companies within the sector.
Employing 200 people, ICS Cool Energy is principally involved in the temperature control sector, specialising in cooling and heating temperature control sales, rental and servicing, and with a £40million group turnover. ICS Cool Energy’s most recent clients have included players such as The Tate Britain, BCH, DC Norris, Messier-Bugatti-Dowty and Saturn Spraying.
