The industry practical skills competition SkillFridge will not run this year after no replacement was found for SummitSkils to manage the SkillFridge competitions.
Now skills consultant Mark Forsyth, who was team manager for the event, has urged the industry to act fast to preserve its future in 2015.
He said: “We have no opportunity to showcase the excellence of RAC college apprentices, as there is no competition running in 2014, which for many people is outrageous and unthinkable.
If SkillFridge is to have any future – even if it is in a new format – the industry needs to plan now for the start of 2015 so that RAC skills are featured at the flagship national finals event at The Skills Show in November 2015.”
He added: “SkillFridge established itself as the RAC industry annual skills competition and was also the platform that identified and trained the very best age-eligible apprentices into WorldSkills International competitions, where colleges and RAC firms could see their apprentices perform at the highest level alongside other countries.
