Soleco has launched a range of MCS approved open loop ground source heat pumps providing heating, cooling and hot water.
Designed and manufactured in the UK, there are six models in the range, delivering a COP (coefficient of performance) from 3.95 to 4.28 (at MCS conditions).
The company claims the ground source heat pumps (GSHP) use free* underground water (which remains at a year round temperature of 12 deg C) via a borehole and transfers it to a building’s heating system at temperatures up to 55 deg C.
All systems in the range are fully compatible with underfloor heating systems as well as modern and low temperature radiators. The constant temperature of underground water, combined with a highly efficient design ensures that no backup heating is normally required.
The Soleco system also provides the added benefit of an independent domestic hot water circuit providing hot water on demand up to 65 deg C and operating at the same time as the heating circuit.
In addition the borehole can provide fresh drinking water using a separate filtration unit and discharged grey water can be used for a variety of activities including irrigation, washing cars or flushing toilets (up to 35 per cent of domestic water is flushed away down the toilet!)
Cooling can be achieved using the same borehole with an additional ventilation system or wall mounted fan coil unit. The advantages are reduced emissions, energy and cost savings as cooled air is more natural than air conditioning which removes moisture from the area that is being cooled which can cause static build up, dry eyes and sore throats.
Soleco’s MCS certified range of ground source heat pumps qualifies users for the government backed Renewable Heat Premium Payment and Incentive scheme (RHPP).
Soleco ground source heat pumps are available through an approved network of installers who are MCS (Microgeneration Certification Scheme) accredited and qualifies purchasers for the Renewable Heat Incentive Scheme which provides financial support to households using renewable heat technologies.
For homeowners, Soleco offers complete project management, system design, installation and commissioning via a nationwide network of distributors and agents.
For project managers, developers and builders who do not need the complete ‘Homeowner Service’, Soleco can supply heat pumps and ancillaries direct.
Approved installers will manage the whole installation from arranging hydrogeological reports, sinking of the borehole to the final system installation.
