Star Refrigeration has signed a letter of intent with Finnish company Scancool to work in partnership to provide CO2 retail solutions and industrial heat pumps in Finland, Sweden and the Baltic countries.
The co-operation with Star marks Scancool’s entry into retail refrigeration and the agreement includes the licence manufacture of CO2 retail solutions.
Jonny Asplund, Scancool managing director, says: “Such solutions have not been seen in Finland before. There have been occasional pilot projects, but the solutions used are considerably less energy efficient than Star’s solution. A few hundred similair retail refrigeration project have already been carried out in Sweden.”
The new agreement also expands Scancool’s HEAT product range of compact heat pump modules to include Star’s Neatpump technology - a packaged ammonia industrial heat pump. Nominal package heating capacities range from 400kW to 5MW and generate hot water at temperatures up to 90 deg C. They are already being applied in a variety of applications including a 14MW district heating system in Norway and food production facilities in the UK and France.
