Star Refrigeration carried off the Industrial/Commercial Project of the Year for its installation in Nestlés Halifax factory, home of the walnut whip.The company was also shortlisted a record eight times, many for its work with the Neatpump high temperature ammonia heat pump.
There were also plenty more eye-catching projects on show. Among them were Johnson Controls’ conversion of a shipping ‘supertrawler’ from R22 to running on natural refrigerants, which won the new category of International Achievement ; and the installation of a hydrocarbon cooling system at northern institution Rathbones bakery, which won Small End User of the Year.
The industry also rewarded a variety of individual achievements. Pioneer of the Year went to ebm-papst’s Geoff Lockwood for his mammoth campaign to secure ECA breaks for EC fansl the Gold Award went to Eddie Gittoes for his tireless efforts pushing low carbon innovation; and the new Industry Achievement Award was given in memoriam to Fred Jamieson, and accepted by his son Nick.
