Toshiba Air Conditioning has been officially recognised as a carbon neutral business.
The announcement follows a programme of carbon reduction and supporting certified carbon offsetting projects with The CarbonNeutral Company, the verification and certification body.
The project required a detailed assessment of energy consumption and carbon emissions across all the company’s activities, down to the level of commute journeys to and from work by employees.
David Dunn, Toshiba’s commercial director, said: “It’s a huge achievement and something we are very proud of.”
“Customers are increasingly concerned about the environment and corporate responsibility. After a huge amount of analysis and subsequent work, Toshiba Air Conditioning is now a certified CarbonNeutral division of TCUK.”
He added: “We believe the investment is good for both the environment and for business. Customers can be confident that not only is Toshiba leading the industry in terms of product performance and efficiency, but we are also leading as a company in terms of environmental responsibility.”
The programme began last year with a detailed Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Emissions Assessment to quantify the total greenhouse gases produced both directly and indirectly by the company’s activities.
Toshiba worked with sustainability consultant Ecometrica to carry out a detailed audit of all its activities.
