Toshiba new design software for air conditioning projects

Toshiba has launched a new air conditioning design tool, Design Airs, aimed at consultants and contractors.

Toshiba claims the programme makes it possible to quickly produce air conditioning system designs for all types of buildings, from small applications, such as shops and restaurants, up to multi-storey office blocks and retail parks.

Building on a basic floor plan, it enables designers to quickly create complete drawings for air conditioning spaces and whole buildings, including associated pipework and wiring schematics.

Toshiba’s BIM-enabled icons can be incorporated to provide data-rich files for use in total building modelling.

The system is said to give the ability to add advanced control options, including both on-board connectivity between units and higher level intelligent controls to dovetail with Building Management Systems (BMS).

It also provides an energy modelling function, to indicate the likely consumption of power during operation for a given level of load and intensity of building usage.

The software automatically calculates refrigerant leak density limits for the occupied space in accordance with EN378, ensuring designs comply with important health and safety requirements.

A built-in intelligent design function assesses drafts for errors and potential problems, highlighting issues and suggesting remedies before final designs are prepared for tender.

Users can add their own background images to customise designs for clients in relation to specific projects, offering a bespoke selling tool to help secure contracts.

A finished design includes full product specification details for all indoor and outdoor units and ancillaries required, which can be output in the form of an equipment list for ordering, enabling quick and accurate costing for tendering purposes.

The design programme can be downloaded via the Business Lounge technical support tools section of the Toshiba website. Visit here to register and then access the software: www.toshiba-aircon.co.uk/business-lounge/support/sales-tools/technical-support-tools
