Technical building services provider, Westway Services (now part of ABM UK), has opened a new £120K state-of-the-art employee training centre.
Westway claims its centre of excellence in Greenford, West London, will help it achieve its company-wide training programme that began 12 months ago.
Space for the centre of excellence was created through the refurbishment of the company’s former head office.
Westway has created its own in-house training programme for all of its employees, including administrative staff.
For example, the company’s Service Desk team recently completed an electrical training course designed specifically for non-technical / operational employees.
The facility also enables Westway to carry out the IOSH approved Managing Safely and Working Safely courses in-house for all employees.
Stuart Marsh, Technical Services Director, said: “The creation of the centre of excellence is an integral part of our company management strategy. We want to build our people up, build their skills sets and in turn build the human capital in our business improving what we do, and how we do it.”
The centre focuses on practical training and gives students hands-on experience across a possible six specialties. These are: electrical, plumbing, refrigeration, lighting, combustion and Building Management System (BMS) controls. It allows the opportunity to recreate, exactly, a client’s environment.
The centre also has a theoretical training and testing area, which has 12 computers and can train half a dozen students at the time.
