Wholesaler FSW is celebrating its golden anniversary, marking 50 years since the original Fridge Spares business was set up in Dublin by the Byrne brothers, Dessie and Brendon. The company was established initially as a distributor of Craig Nicol cases.
The company is proud of the fact that it is still a family owned busines, with Des’s son Dermot Byrne now having taking over as Chairman and his brother Derek running the Ireland operation as General Manager. Today the Company claims to be one of the largest specialist refrigeration and air conditioning wholesalers in the UK & Ireland, with a turnover in excess of 75 million Euros.
The FSW business has 24 branches in the UK, encompassing Just One Call, NRWfm, ESP and Beacon Engineering, together with three branches in Ireland.
As a wholesaler FSW says it stocks ‘a full range of refrigeration capital equipment and packaged air conditioning equipment, plus all the installation materials and tools required by contracting & maintenance companies.’
The FSW Group also claims to be the leading provider of spares for the retail sector through its Just One Call & NRWfm subsidiaries, supplying refrigeration contractors to all the major retailers including Asda, Tesco, Sainsbury’s, Morrison’s, Marks & Spencer, Aldi, Co-Op, and Lidl.
Beacon manufacture bespoke commercial refrigeration & air conditioning equipment, with a portfolio ranging from housed condensing units up to multi compressor scroll, reciprocating and screw packs, while ESP (Equipment Spare Parts) is claimed to be the UK’s largest specialist supplier of cabinet spare parts.
FSW says the 50th celebrations will go on all year, with a number of special events and promotions, culminating in a Gala Dinner being held in both the UK & Ireland in November.
