It is great to see RAC Magazine getting behind World Refrigeration Day. As Andrew Gaved says, once the penny drops, one realises what an important opportunity this is and why it is so necessary. Our industry has been trying since it began over a century to raise its profile with countless initiatives and yet we still we find ourselves where we are today. However, at last, the global RAC community and beyond is joining together so that our collective voices will be united.
World Refrigeration Day have also been invited to speak at this Congress by the World Bank. The importance of raising awareness of our industry has never been higher.
It was another great night. The 10th anniversary awards were always going to be special and this lived up to expectations.
The long standing ovation given to the posthumous award for Eddie Gittoes presented to his wife Deborah summed up both the respect and affection that many felt for Eddie, but also the value that the industry places on innovation; a key theme of the Awards for the past decade.
Congratulations to Andy Pearson and the rest of the Star team that worked on this. Fantastic to see them recognised with such a prestigious international award. Well done, and well deserved.
This is extremely sad news. What a loss to this industry. I have known Eddie for over twenty years and he has been inspirational in his drive and dedication to this industry and his company. A great man and a true professional. The terms 'remarkable' and 'industry leader' are over used these days but they very fitting descriptions of Eddie. My sincere condolences to his family and freinds at this very sad time.
